Fourth Sunday of Lent: The Joy That Comes From the Light

Lent is a season of the Christian year when Christians focus on simple living, prayer and fasting in order to grow closer to God. The resultant effect is a healthier lifestyle, a less burdened heart and lots of joy.

‘For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light.’ [Ephesians 5:8]

 

'The light they say consumes darkness, rekindles a glowing splint, sets the whole place alive with excitement and joy because where ever the light goes, joy is its accomplice.'

The sermon of Sunday 26^th centered on the second reading; joy is a gift from God.

The task of being a child of light is to attract others to that light. This is the area where our faith would be called to question.

‘To live in joy is to realize that life is not a race, but wishes for you to desire its beauty’, said Fr. Wisdom

The joy that comes from the Lord gives you great insight as to how your future would turn out. The confidence gotten from this gives you strength when facing a difficulty.

The Lord can move you from point A to point B, but the question is, "have you really moved?"’ said Fr. Wisdom

‘I must work the works of him that sent me, whilst it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world’ [John 9: 4 – 5]

Violence occurs when just people throw a blind eye to injustice. When we say we love God, we must be able to put it into action.

‘To live in joy means cooperating with the Holy Spirit and the grace made available’

In this season of Lent, the church reminds us of the love God has for us and His joy would be complete if our joy too is complete.
